Nice to be back in Person again!

This is my humble little office.  It is nice to be seeing Clients both in Person and Virtual.  I am grateful that through the pandemic I was able to continue to help my clients via video, phone, etc.  But to be back in person.... Is wonderful!  For now I will continue both to provide services both ways.

Self Love for Men is Important too!

https://www.amazon.com/Good-Vibes-Life-Self-Love-Unlocking/dp/1788171829/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2FCNB136942EJ&dchild=1&keywords=self+love+for+men&qid=1614961534&s=books&sprefix=self+love+for%2Cstripbooks%2C158&sr=1-1

Self Love is important for everyone.  However, we don't talk about it as much for the men.  Why is that? Perhaps it's the stereotypes, perhaps we as a generation don't think they need it or maybe we just haven't thought of it yet.  I find in my practice when a man grows his self love, just like when anyone else does, everyone benefits.  Let's encourage everyone to find their self love! I recommend this book for my male clients.

Board Certified-TeleMental Health Provider

Exciting news!!!  I have become a Board Certified-TeleMental Health Provider. What does that mean?  It means that I am trained and certified to provide online counseling.  It also means that I can provide services to anyone in NYS and not be limited to only people that can make it to the office.  I will be working on expanding my practice across the state!

Sunday Positive Post

So today is the official last day of posting for the Positive journal.  I really enjoyed this exercise.  At first it is always easy to think of what went wrong.  Some days I had to dig deep to find some positives in my day.  But as the week went on, it got easier.   I encourage people to keep going with this exercise.

  1. I took my own advise last night.  I was having so much trouble sleeping so I set myself up with a sleep meditation.  I found a really good one on youtube.  Jason Stephenson, Guided Meditation for Deep Sleep, Create your Destiny Hypnosis for Law of Attraction.
  2. My nephews (who I adore) came for a surprise visit.  They go to college about 1.5 hours away from where I live.
  3. 3 Had a great night with my friends and family celebrating Octoberfest

Wednesday Positive Post

1. I am loving that all my clients have been very receptive to the idea of documenting their positive experiences.  I am also loving the comments and invite everyone to do the same!
2. I am grateful that today I can work from home.  Monday and Tuesday I worked 12+ hour days and Wednesdays are a much lighter load.
3.  I really enjoy my homemade Chi Tea latte.  Less sugar and less caffeine than the Starbucks version that I am addicted to!

Tuesday Positive post

I think I am going to modify my "three things" to either positive events or things I am grateful for.  Both work for me.

  1. It was my turn to drive my son to school (6:45 am), but my husband did it for me!
  2. I just did some journaling and it helped me get some clarity on some decisions I need to make
  3. I had an awesome day at work yesterday. I saw 9 clients and they all are working so hard and making really good progress
Please list your three things in the comments.... you might be helping someone else! You never know!

Positive Journal

Every day brings a combination of good and bad experiences.  Unfortunately, the human brain tends to focus more heavily on the bad experiences, while forgetting or discounting the good experiences.  For example, we're more likely to remember one awkward social interaction over hundreds of normal interactions.

Making a point to recognize positive experiences-no matter how small-can help to improve mood.  Practice by recording three positive events at the end of each day.

I will be posting my three every day for the next week.  Please add yours in the comments.

Take care of yourself

With everything going on in the news, it is stirring up a lot of memories for a lot of people. Sadly, too many people have gone thru similar situations and have lingering feelings. Sigh...... hang in there, get professional help, stay grounded.   Here is an article that you might find helpful.

Inner Strength

Where do you get your Inner Strength from??  Kind of a weird question, right?  Because you only know you have Inner Strength when you need to use it.  I liken it to, you only appreciate your good health when you are sick.  One needs to draw upon their Inner Strength when something is difficult.  For example, when I went through a 14 hour surgery/recovery, boy did I need some Inner Strength.  Then today, in my Yoga class with Diane Laylin MacDonald She talked about Building Inner Strength.  She gave 4 tips (reprinted with her permission):

  1. Try something new in your yoga practice-go to a place you have not gone before.
  2. Cultivate an attitude of Acceptance.
  3. Create a Success Practice-recall at the end of each day your successes and honor yourself
  4. Meditate each day for at least 20 minutes (my personal favorite)
One needs to build Inner Strength to get better at Yoga (running, exercise, etc.)  or to overcome difficulties both physical and emotional.

So, where do you get your Inner Strength?
